Flash Flood Risk Over Plains, Upper Midwest, Ohio Valley, and South

More than half the nation will see thunderstorms today, bringing heavy rain over parts of the upper Midwest, Plains, Ohio Valley, and South which has prompted flash flood warnings in at least 14 states… Here is today’s forecast.

Flash flood warnings for upper Midwest, Plains, Ohio Valley and South

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued warnings over heavy rain that could bring potential flash flooding to at least 14 states, including portions of the upper Midwest, Plains, Ohio Valley, and parts of the South on Tuesday.

In the upper Midwest, there is the risk of flash flooding over portions of the Dakotas and Minnesota.

In the Plains and Ohio Valley, there’s a flash flood risk over portions of Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana.

In the South, there is flash flood risk over portions of Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina.

Severe weather over Upper Midwest

The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning over strong thunderstorms that could bring severe weather to parts of the upper Midwest today including central and eastern North Dakota, eastern South Dakota, central and northeastern Nebraska, northwestern Iowa and eastern Minnesota.

Red flag warnings in the West

The NWS has issued red flag warnings for potential critical fire weather over portions of southern Arizona, as well as southwestern, central, and east-central New Mexico and into northwestern Texas.
