Flash Flood Watch and Red Flag Warnings in the West, Snow for the North

High winds in the West and upper Midwest bring red flag warnings to SoCal. Thunderstorms across the southern corridor bring flash flood warnings to the west, while the northern corridor will see snow in Northwest and Northeast.

Today’s weather outlook

High wind warnings for the West and Upper Midwest have prompted red flag warnings for Southern California. Thunderstorms across the southern corridor will bring flash flood warnings to parts of the West and Southwest, while wintry conditions along the northern tier of the country will bring snow to both the Northwest and the Northeast.

Here is today’s forecast by the National Weather Service (NWS).

West & Southwest:

Thunderstorms are forecast over the southeastern California deserts spanning into central and southern Arizona and extending into western and central New Mexico, as well as extreme western Texas.

Mixed precipitation is forecast for central Arizona and central New Mexico.

Northwest, Northern Rockies & Upper Midwest:

Rain and mixed precipitation is forecast over most of Washington and Oregon, with snow to the east.

Snow is expected for most of Idaho into western and southern Montana, as well as western and northwestern Wyoming extending into southeastern portions of the state, and will span into northwestern Nebraska and southwestern South Dakota.

Southern corridor:

Rain will stretch across the southern corridor from Texas spanning to the Carolinas and Virginia. Rain is forecast across some or all of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia.

Northern tier:

Snow is forecast across the northern tier of the country over parts of northeastern Wisconsin, northern Michigan, northern Pennsylvania, northern New Jersey, New York, northern Connecticut, northern Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

Mixed precipitation is forecast for most of Michigan into northern Indiana, northern Ohio, northwestern Pennsylvania and northwestern New York.
