Flood Watch in 8 States as Thunderstorms Soak US


Widespread thunderstorms throughout most of the US today will bring the threat of flash flooding early in the day to at least eight US states, while portions of the Rockies will see mixed precipitation and red flag warnings in the West.

Flood watch for 8 states

The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning at least eight US states over the possibility of heavy rain that could bring flash flooding. Warnings have been issued over portions of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky and Missouri, while to the West, over parts of Montana.

Mixed precipitation over Rockies and northern areas in the West

The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecast mixed precipitation over portions of the Northwest, Northern Rockies, and northern regions of the West including parts of Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado.

Red flag warnings in the West

Hot, dry, and windy conditions have prompted authorities to issue red flag warnings over portions of the West and Southwest including southern and eastern Utah, Southwest Colorado, most of Arizona, and the western half of New Mexico.

Today’s thunderstorms forecast

Except for portions of the West, most of the nation will experience rain and thunderstorms on Monday including most of the Northwest and northern Rockies, portions of northern California, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado, throughout the upper Midwest, portions of the central Plains, throughout the South, Southeast and Ohio Valley, and into the Northeast from Pennsylvania northward to Maine.

The NWS has not forecast any severe weather warnings as of early Monday.
