Flooding Threat Continues for Mid-Atlantic Severe Weather in Upper Midwest


Thunderstorms spanning the eastern US will bring the continued threat of flooding to the mid-Atlantic and areas drenched by Isaias, while over the upper Midwest a possibility of severe storms; plus, today’s weather news and forecast.

Eastern thunderstorms bring flood risk to mid-Atlantic

The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecast thunderstorms spanning across the Gulf and northward along the East Coast states into Maine. Areas already inundated from Isaias will see potential risk of flooding on Friday.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the following areas: northeast North Carolina; northern and eastern Virginia; eastern West Virginia; central and southern Maryland; Washington, D.C.; Delaware; southern Pennsylvania; New Jersey.

Severe weather over the upper Midwest

The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning of strong storms that could bring severe weather to at least four states and the upper Midwest on Friday. The affected areas include central and eastern North Dakota; northeastern South Dakota; northern, western, west-central, central and east-central Minnesota; Northwestern Wisconsin.

Excessive heat advisories

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued and excessive heat watch for central Arizona and California deserts. The NWS also issued a special weather statement for South-Central Texas with a heat advisory over a high heat index on Friday. Temperatures may feel hotter than thermometer readings. Take precautions.

Red flag warnings

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued red flag warnings over critical fire conditions in five states. The affected areas include: southern, south-central and eastern Utah; western Colorado; southern and eastern Wyoming; western Nebraska; north-central, central, northeastern and eastern Montana.
