More Rain and Flood Risk to Already Drenched Southeast and Mid-Atlantic

On the heels of Isaias, the already drenched Southeast and mid-Atlantic will see more heavy rain and thunderstorms on Thursday prompting the risk of flooding in several states; plus, today’s weather news and forecast.

Flooding risk for parts of southeast and mid-Atlantic

Thunderstorms will span from the Gulf States through the mid-South, Southeast, Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic on Thursday.

Some areas that are trying to dry out after being inundated with water from Hurricane/Tropical Storm Isaias will be under another risk of flooding today, particularly the northern areas of the Southeast and the mid-Atlantic.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued flood and flash flood warnings for the following areas on Thursday: north-central and northeastern North Carolina; central, southern, eastern and northern Virginia; eastern West Virginia; Washington, D.C.; central Maryland; Delaware; southeastern Pennsylvania; New Jersey.

Red flag warnings in the West

Hot, dry and windy conditions have prompted red flag warnings by the National Weather Service (NWS) in 9 Western states for Thursday. The affected areas include: southeast Washington; northeast Oregon; southeastern Idaho; Western, southeastern and south-central Wyoming; western Nebraska; Utah; southern Nevada; southeastern California; northwestern Arizona.
