Thunderstorms Stretch from Southwest to Northeast, Flood Risk

Thunderstorms will stretch from Texas into parts of New York on Monday, a flooding risk for North Dakota and Minnesota amid snow, scattered snowstorms over parts of Colorado and New Mexico. The 3-day forecast.

The 3-day forecast

The three-day forecast shows southern and eastern thunderstorms over the next two days, then over the central US on Wednesday. Some snow in the forecast over parts of the West and Minnesota. Although thunderstorms will be prevalent, there is a very low risk of severe weather over the next three days, according to forecasters, with the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) of the NOAA rating the risk on Monday as a Level 1, marginal for parts of the South and mid-South.

Monday: Thunderstorms, flood risk, snow

Thunderstorms will span from Texas to the Southwest over parts of the South, mid-South, Ohio Valley, mid-Atlantic, and Northeast on Monday. In the West, thunderstorms over eastern Washington and Oregon into northwestern Idaho. Scattered thunderstorms over Florida.

Snow over parts of Colorado and northern New Mexico, and northern Minnesota.

In the Northeast, rain over parts of Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

In the West, a mix of thunderstorms, mixed precipitation, and rain for portions of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and northern California. Rain for northwestern Nevada.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued flood advisories over eastern and northeastern North Dakota into northwestern Minnesota.

Tuesday: Thunderstorms, snow

For the second day in a row, thunderstorms will stretch from Texas in the southeast into the South, as well as farther eastward along the southeast coast from Florida to southern New Jersey.

Snow over the northern regions of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

In the West, thunderstorms over Western Washington and Oregon, while the Western regions of the state will see a wintry mix that will span into Idaho and Montana.

Wednesday: Scattered thunderstorms, snow

Scattered thunderstorms mostly over parts of the Midwest and Southwest. Areas included in the forecast are Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas. In the South, thunderstorms over parts of northern Florida, and throughout the central and southern parts of the state.

A mix of snow, rain, and sleet over portions of Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah.

Mixed precipitation and rain over western Washington and Oregon.
